great as usual!  how bout adding ffmpeg install to this script (the latest and greatest)  i.e. your script for grabbing the compiled build.

then prompt for nzb load and or predb load based on if the person installing donated and is given a code... ($cha ching!)

Tried it on a clean install of Ubuntu and it kept hanging @ mediainfo after it did the wget commands.   I commented out the mediainfo lines and then it just stalled on x264 itself.

This happened in one of my tests as well but noted that the repos were down intermittently all week.  Sometimes it happens. Be patient :)

Yep you must have been right, I re-ran it on a clean install and this time it got all the way to installing extra's and sat and did nothing.  So must be repo's down.

No, not a repo. The extras are alot to install and can take a few minutes.

I used it 3 times today. Again, no issues.

I have only tested Percona since I wrote this many months ago. Mariadb has had many issues lately and I have not tested.

Really handy script that works for me, in that all installed and can run the admin/web interface.

Odd though that if I use the script on a 13.10 64bit Server that reboots fine, post using the script if I reboot the system does not come back, cannot ping/SSH to it, screen is black with cursor top left.  (its a VMWare image).  Maybe like grub/MBR is messed up.   Have tried 5 installs with the same result.

It works for me, I have used it dozens of times.

Look here, and edit as necessary. Its the only settings for ssh that is changed.

Other than that, it makes no changes that would keep it from coming back up. It absolutely does not touch grub as you can see by looking at the script. If you can't log in, use vmware to view directly and find the issue.

I would be surprised if it has anything to do with this script.

im assuming prior to script run you selected "OpenSSH Server" as an option during install?

i have done this also 15 times this weekend to test a dev build and it ran well every time (despite the fun with "extras")

Thanks.

Will do some more installs today, and test.

1) Is Ubuntu Server 13.10 64bit a good place to start,  or would you recommend something else
2) I was running the compile_ffmpeg.sh first - what should I choose in the     Ubuntu 13.10.sh script when it asks Y/N "You can install the ffmpeg by using apt-get or use a precompiled static linked binary"
3) MySQL works, but should I consider one of the other options - site will only be used by 3 or 4 people, but I don't understand the pros/cons of the database options
