Where do you need to signup for the Amazon API?
« on: 2017-10-12, 01:21:18 AM »
Hi, in the wiki the link for the amazon api points to affiliate-program.amazon.com
ist that actually correct? Seems like it's a process to sign up with something completely different, rather than app development or API access.

I registered here: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/
After registration, you go to Amazon Product Advertising API and get the keys.

Is there anyway of getting around having to provide a web address. I use my system internaly only. I don't have an external site.

for new customers you need to provide a web address - amazon will even check the homepage to make sure, that you really use the API for product referrals.

Its s huge pain in the butt.

You need to sign up for an associates account.

Supply a website that is fully functioning (no dead links/furnished pages)

Make a sale within 6 months using your associate tag, after your first sale they will start the review process.

Review process is when someone goes and reviews your website and then either passes or fails you.

After that is done (can take a week after your first sale for the review to happen) you can generate some keys.

NOTE I am SOL, as I was kicked out several times a few years ago because apparently B2B sales are against the TOS so if you are a consultant dont bother.
