I had the same error, but found out my certstore on Ubuntu server was corrupted.  I reinstalled it and it fixed my issue.

To see if you are running into the same issue, type this command:
Code: [Select]
curl -i https://api.themoviedb.org/3/configuration?api_key=myapikey
** replace myapikey with your TMDB key. **    If you get an error, then you may have the same issue I had.  If you get data back, then you are running into something different.

This is the command I used to reinstall the certstore.
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install ca-certificates
Not sure if this was your issue, but I have seen you struggling with this and thought I would offer some insight since I was getting the same thing after a recent reinstall.

Good Luck!
